Frequently Asked QuestionsFrequently Asked QuestionsQ. Why should we go 'Paperless'?A. The Bottom line is that the efficiency of EMedicalNotes will save time and money. The obvious is the immediate savings in paper costs. Larger areas of savings are seen with the elimination or reduction of costly transcription and dictation. Just the time it takes to the repetitive office functions like, refilling prescriptions and faxing Q. Do I have to still use paper charts when using EMedicalNotes EMR?A. No, with EMedicalNotes EMR you can get rid of paper charts completely since anything in the office will be generated electronically and anything from outside the office will be scanned and filed a patient chart. Even the old paper chart can and should be scanned in the appropriate sections of the patient electronic chart. Q. How does the transition form paper to paperless happen?A. Gradually. Once a 'Go Live' date is set, we suggest that you start scanning the charts of patients that are already scheduled. That way when you start seeing patients on the 'Go Live' date, you will have these patients paper charts scanned in, so you don't have to refer to physical paper chart. Q. Is EMedicalNotes HIPPA Compliant?A. Yes. Fully HIPPA compliant. Q. Can Lab results be downloaded directly into the EMR?A. Yes. EMedicalNotes is HL7 compliant so it can import any labs from an HL7 compatible source, most labs do have that interface. We usually charge a small fee to make the interface with the lab but the lab itself is usually happy to pick up the fee if you do enough business with them. Not only can test results be downloaded directly into a patient chart but so can many in-office testing procedures. i.e. Bone density, EKG etc. Q. EMedicalNotes is a web application, does that mean my patients data is on the Internet?A. Definitely not, the data is on a server in your office. Even if you loose your Internet connection, you can continue to see your patients like usual. The only time you need the Internet is when you connect from outside the office, in that case you get connected to your server though the Internet securely. Again none of your data is on the Internet. Q. How secure is my data.A. HTTPS is used for both inside and outside connections to the server, this is the same security protocol that is used by your bank and other web sites that need high security encryption. Q. How do I backup the data on the serverA. You don't need to. We perform remote backups securely and automatically to all the data on your server once or twice daily. So you have an exact copy of your data in a secure remote location at all times. Q. What happen if there is a problem with my server and I don't have access to my patients charts?A. We understand how valuable your data is to your practice, so we will immediately work on getting your server back up and running. Most of the time we can fix things remotely within few minutes without having to send somebody over to your office. If there is a major problem in the hardware itself where we can not fix it remotely, then we give you access to your backup copy of your data which you use exactly as you use your own server, so you will never have to practice without your charts Q. Does EMedicalNotes have a prescription writing tool?A. Yes. The internal prescription writer allows authorized employees to quickly create and fax prescriptions to any pharmacy. This allows patients to avoid the long lines and waiting periods previously experienced when dropping off prescriptions at the pharmacy. Q. How long has EMedicalNotes EMR existed?A. EMedicalNotes EMR was started in 2001 and it continues to evolve and new features added to it on a regular basis. We use feedback and feature requests from out customers to add and enrich the program. Q. Does EMedicalNotes EMR support Voice recognition, or handwriting ?A. Yes, EMedicalNotes supports both input devices. They come standard on tablet PCs which we highly recommend to use to view patients charts in the exam rooms. You may even use your own voice recognition software if you like. Q. Does EMedicalNotes EMR accommodate scanned photos, images, and documents?A. Yes, scanned photos integrate well with the system as well as color image photos from Bone Density Machines. This is actually one of most important features of EMedicalNotes EMR, you can scan and file paper documents very easily on the computer. Multiple scanners can be used in an office in the same time.
